Pre-conference tours this Saturday.

Conference is this weekend, and we’re looking forward to welcoming you to Auckland.

For delegates attending the pre-conference tours, the updated programme booklet (Word, 112 kB) includes information about transport options.

I wrote about the tour of Auckland City Libraries in an earlier post. The library is located at 44-46 Lorne Street in the central city. Delegates attending the tour should meet inside the main front door of the library, near the lift, at 1pm. There will be a walking group leaving from the reception area of the Heritage at 12.30.

The second tour, from 4-6pm, is of the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind‘s accessible information services: the library, accessible format production including the talking book studios, the adaptive technology classroom, adaptive communications and equipment services.

The Foundation’s Awhina House is located at 4 Maunsell Road, Parnell. Delegates should meet at the Recreation Centre, at the back entrance of Awhina House, at 4pm.

Following the tour, the Foundation is holding a welcome reception, which will include drinks and finger food, a short speech or two and a performance by three students of the braille music school at BLENNZ.

Finger food for the welcome reception is being generously supplied by Kokako, a locally Fair Trade coffee roaster and food providore. Kokako café is across the road from the Foundation and is a favourite of many staff. As well as the café, Kokako provides event catering, and supplies a range of delicious vegetarian food to other cafés, organic stores and gourmet supermarkets. We’re grateful to Kokako for supporting the conference in this way.

Leave a comment or get in touch if you have any questions about the pre-conference tours. Otherwise we’ll look forward to seeing some of you on Saturday.
